Q1) While going for a sharp single, both the
striker and non-striker are left stranded in the
middle of the pitch. If a run out is to be effected
at the wicketkeeper/striker's end, who will be
given out? Why?
A) The striker. Because he is yet to cross over to
the other side of the pitch.
Q2) In present day cricket, what is the
length of the popping crease for ODIs & Test
Matches ? Why ?
A) It shall be 15 yards on either side of the
middle stumps. This is to ensure that whenever a
substitute runner is employed, who runs at a fair
distance from the center of the pitch, gets to know
where exactly the crease lies.
Q3) Can a batsman be allowed to retire in
case of vomiting even though the opposite captain
objects?
A) He can retire and resume whenever he is fit. The
opposite captain has no say. It is for the umpires
to decide.
Q4) The ball is slowly traveling to the
boundary. But just before it crosses over, the
batsmen have crossed for the fifth run. How many
runs are given ?
A) Five.
Q5) Can a bowler bowl two consecutive overs
in the same match?
A) Yes, in two separate innings, It may be the last
over of the 1st innings & first of the 2nd innings.

lunch which is scheduled for 12.30 p.m. The
interval for lunch is 45 minutes, when shall the
game resume?
A) The game shall resume at 1-07 p.m.

appeal. Can the umpire answer such a belated appeal
?
A) Yes, before a bowler starts his run up or
bowling action to bowl the next over, subject to
'Time' not being called.

front of the wicket ?
A) Yes, only if the ball had first touched the
striker's bat or person or if a run is attempted.
Q9) Can any runs be scored off a ball
lawfully hit twice ?
A) Yes, only if there is an over throw.
Q10) Rain stops play as a new batsman in
nearing the wicket. Can he be replaced on
resumption ?
A) No.
Q11) A new ball is due after 75 overs. But

81st over. When can the next new ball be claimed ?
A) After 155 overs have been bowled.
Q12) What are the ways in which either
batsmen can be out off a "no-ball"?
A) Run out, Handling the ball, Hitting the ball

a "Wide Ball"?
A) Stumped , Hit Wicket, Handling the ball and
Obstructing the field.
Q14) The striker is bowled off a "No-ball"

many runs are scored and in which column?
A) 5 runs are scored as no-balls.
Q15) A fairly delivered ball comes to rest
in front of the striker. What action does the
umpire take ?
A) Call a No-ball & immediately call Dead Ball.
