Knight Riders incurred a fine for the second time
in the Indian Premier League for their slow
over-rate during Sunday's victory over Deccan
Chargers.
The Knight Riders, skippered by Sourav Ganguly,
secured a 23-run triumph over their hosts at the
Rajiv Gandhi International Stadium in Hyderabad,
but match referee Talat Ali from Pakistan tempered
that joy by issuing a US 1,000 fine.
The Kolkata-based team were dealt the penalty for
being two overs behind schedule, as per the IPL
rules that follow the ones set by the International
Cricket Council.
The Knight Riders were also fined US 500 by match
referee Farokh Engineer for falling one over short
in their clash against Bangalore Royal Challengers
on Friday.
The Rahul Dravid-led Challengers had to pay up
double the amount for falling two over short in the
same match.
The fourth-placed Knight Riders have picked up
eight points from eight matches with four wins and
four losses. Rajasthan Royals lead the IPL
standings with Chennai Super Kings second and
Punjab Kings XI third.
