Rajasthan Royals skipper Shane Warned termed the blistering 74-run knock of
Shane Watson as the "best" knock which helped them take a "sweet revenge" from
Delhi Daredevils.
"Watson`s innings was turning point of the match. His innings was perhaps the
best in the tournament. It was most valuable and brilliant innings," Warne said
at the post match press conference.
"I am happy with the team`s victory, sitting on top of the table. Revenge was
sweet," he said in an apparent reference to the nine-wicket loss against Delhi
in the away tie early in the tournament.
Warne also apologised to his team for bowling a costly over.
"Things went according to our plan till 19th over. I apologise for that over. I
was hit for 27 runs. I am 27 and I don`t think so at this age it was that bad.
But we gave 20-25 runs extra to them," the leg-spinner said.
Warne was happy that his team executed all the game plans well.
"We bowled well. Field placing was well and we were able to contain them. We
had plans for Sehwag. We bowled slow to him. Dmitri, Watson Siddarth (Trivedi)
and Munaf intentionally kept the ball slow," he said.
Losing captain Virender Sehwag blamed poor fielding and Watson`s strokeful
innings for his team`s defeat.
"We did not play well. At a certain stage they were needing 10-12 run per over
but we missed a few catches and Watson`s innings turned around the game."
"The second defeat in the last over is pinching. And we have to improve the
overall game," Sehwag said.
Sehwag also praised rival bowlers for using the wicket well.
"The wicket was slow and low. Ball was not coming on to the bat and they also
bowled smartly. They did not give me the pace I love. So I was not able to
strike the ball as I wanted to."
Clearing the air on on-field umpires not referring Watson run-out decision to
the third umpire immediately, Sehwag said the officials actually did not have
access to replays due to some technical problem.
"They were actually told not to refer decisions to the third umpire after
eighth over because of a technical snag. So they were not informed if the
technical snag was sorted out or not," he said.
However, Fraser Castellino, CEO of Emerging Media did not like the Delhi team`s
pushing of umpires to refer the decision to the third umpire.
"More and more people are challenging the umpires decisions and we are going to
write to IPL officially to take steps to prevent such happenings."
"We want the game to be played in right spirit. Some decisions have gone
against us also and we have accepted those," Fraser said.
