India and Pakistan have played five Tests at the Eden Gardens, the venue of the second Test of the ongoing series. The first four matches were drawn, while the last, played in 1998-99 as part of the inaugural Asian Test Championships, resulted in a Pakistan victory by the slender margin of 46 runs. Pakistani opener Saeed Anwar ( 188 not out in the second innings) and Indian fast bowler Javagal Srinath ( 13 wickets ) shared the Man of the Match award.
