. India and England will be playing against
each other for the first time in a Test at this
venue.
. Out of the eight Tests played at this
ground, India has won two - against Sri Lanka and
Zimbabwe, and lost once each to New Zealand and
Australia. The remaining four matches were drawn.

captain decided to bat first and all Tests lasted

'five-for' at this venue.
. Indian leg spinner Anil Kumble enjoys the
distinction of claiming the most career wickets -
18 at a rate of 28.27 from four matches .
. All four matches which have produced
results , have been decided by big margins : twice
by innings , once by 342 runs and other by 167 runs

. In two test matches in which India were
defeated , their combined total in both innings was
