SWASHBUCKLING SHAHID
Shahid Afridi slammed his way into the record-books
by talking 27 runs off a Harbhajan over on the
second day of the ongoing Test match at Lahore.
It was the second-highest number of runs scored in
an over in a Test match. Afridi also became the
first batsman to hit successive sixes off the first
four balls of an over, during the course of that
extraordinary assault on the Indian off-spinner.
Kapil Dev of India is the only other batsman to hit
four sixes in an over in Test cricket, that too in
succession. Coincidentally, he also humiliated an
off-spinner, Eddie Hemmings of England, at Lord's
in 1990. Kapil cleared the boundary off the last
four balls of the over.
Batsmen who scored the maximum runs in an over
in a Test match:
28 - Brian Lara (WI - 466444) off Robin Peterson
(SA) at Johannesburg, 2003-04
27 - Shahid Afridi (Pak - 666621) off Harbhajan
Singh (Ind ) at Lahore , 2005-06
26 - Craig McMillan (NZ - 444464) off Younis Khan
(Pak) at Hamilton , 2000-01

for 199 in a Test innings, when Harbhajan Singh ran
