RECORDS IN IND-PAK ONE-DAY INTERNATIONALS

Several significant world records have been established during one-day internationals between India and Pakistan.

The fiercest limited-overs rivalry in the sport commenced in 1978-79 and is going strong twenty seven years later.

Let's take a look at some of the distinctions achieved by players of both nations when playing each other:

3 - The number of consecutive centuries scored by Pakistani legend Zaheer Abbas in the ODIs on India's tour of Pakistan in 1982-83. He made 118 at Multan, 105 at Lahore and 113 at Karachi. It was the first instance of a batsman completing a hattrick of hundreds in one-day internationals.

* 3 - The maximum number of matches wherein the team batting second achieved its target off the last ball. Pakistan won on all occasions; at Sharjah in 1985-86, Brisbane in 1999-00 and Ahmedabad in 2004-05. Javed Miandad's last-ball six in the first of those games at Sharjah is remembered to this day.

* 194 - Saeed Anwar reached this individual score, the highest-ever in an ODI, against India in a league match of the four-nation Independence Cup tournament at Chennai in 1996-97. He cracked 22 fours and five sixes.

* 344 - The highest ODI score posted by a team batting second. Pakistan came within five runs of India's imposing total of 349 at Karachi, in what was the first game of the five-match series on India's 2003-04 tour. Inzamam-ul-Haq all but won the game for his side with a brilliant 122.

* 693 - The same match witnessed the highest run-aggregate in ODIs. India made 349-7 and Pakistan 344-8. Rahul Dravid ( 99 ) and Inzamam - ul- Haq ( 122 ) were the highest individual scorers for both sides.

* The only all-lbw hattrick - Aaqib Javed of Pakistan remains the youngest bowler, at 19 years and 81 days, to achieve a hat - trick. He pulled it off in the final of the triangular Wills Cup at Sharjah in 1991-92, when he dismissed Ravi Shastri , Mohammad Azharuddin and Sachin Tendulkar in a similar manner. The batsmen were hit on their pads and the umpire upheld all three appeals.
